Canyon Itaimbezinho
It is the most famous canyon in the Aparados da Serra National Park, stretching 5.8 km, 720 meters deep, and 200 meters wide. The name Itaimbezinho derives from the Tupi-Guarani words Ita (stone) and Aí'be (sharp). It is characterized by its vertical rock walls, accompanied by sparse vegetation on its escarpments. The canyon is crossed by the Perdizes and Preá rivers, which form the Rio do Boi. It is located just 80 meters from the park's Visitor Center and can be seen during the Vértice and Mirante do Cotovelo trails – considered the classic view of this canyon, from where it is possible to appreciate the grandeur of the local landscape. From up there, one can contemplate an immensity that seems endless. An unforgettable experience.
