The incredible paleotunnels are ancient geological formations, dating back approximately ten thousand years, to when megafauna still inhabited the Earth. It is believed that giant sloths and armadillos dug large burrows amidst the mountains. Later, indigenous people occupied the area to escape attacks by white settlers. Besides its historical appeal, the place is surrounded by legends. One of them tells of Jesuit priests who hid many treasures there.
